An English heritage site but you don't need your membership.Dog friendly Interesting site, would benefit from extra information around the ruins to tell you about the buildings. Large free carpark and lovely dog walk around the heritage centre and old industrial area.

Basingwerk Abbey, founded in 1131 as a daughter house of Savigny Abbey and later part of the Cistercian Order, has a rich medieval history. Over the centuries, it attracted support from Welsh princes and English monarchs, helping it to flourish. Today, however, there are no tours or information panels on site, so without looking online, it’s just a collection of old stones – the abbey’s fascinating story is invisible to casual visitors. The chapter house and monks’ parlour are still interesting to see, and the peaceful setting is lovely, but anyone hoping for a fully informative visit will be disappointed. However lovely place for a walk, changing with every other season and that's add special magical touch to this ruins.

A beautiful well preserved Abbey ruin. Thankfully Henry left more than most across Wales. Free to enter. Very atmospheric. Well worth leaving the A55 for 🤗

Great place for walks, there are lovely wooded areas that are well maintained, lots of historical buildings to learn about at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park not just the abbey. For dog walkers, you can go off lead (responsibly) and there is also plenty of dog bins provided. Shop and cafe facilities available.
