What an absolutely brilliant day out for the whole family! We visited on a weekend and easily spent over 4 hours here, and honestly we could have stayed even longer. The Battle of Hastings site is a truly special place. Standing on the very ground where the Norman Conquest of 1066 changed the course of English history forever is a spine-tingling experience. English Heritage have done a fantastic job bringing that history to life, with brilliant context and storytelling that makes the events of that incredible day feel vivid and real. The kids were completely engaged throughout. The activities and play area kept them entertained while the adults soaked up the atmosphere and learned so much. It is educational and fun for all ages, which is rare to find. The café was a lovely bonus too, great food and a welcome pit stop to recharge before exploring more of the stunning grounds. If you are within driving distance, this is an absolute must-visit. We will definitely be back!

This was top of our list to visit while in the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this amazing place. Janet who gave us a brief overview of the place was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had a lovely couple of hours and particularly enjoyed the walk around the grounds. Both the audio guide and short video were very informative and with taking advantage of. Well worth a visit.

Interesting history from 1066. Displays in the gatehouse. Chainsaw sculptures around the battlefield. Some of the abbey is still standing with fabulous columns and vaulted ceilings. Themed outdoor play area for children. Cafe took a LONG TIME to serve orders, till was playing up, and their gluten free cakes were cross-contaminated by tongs that had obviously been used for "normal" cakes. Definitely worth visiting but take a picnic

Wow!! What an interesting and historic place to visit off season! Bedtime to visit when the weather is good and dry as a walk across the battlefield would be very wet indeed. We had such a lovely time imagining the day where when the French language landed with an arrow to the eye! Poor old Harold! And welcome William! Great cafe amazing staff and volunteers! Definitely worth a visit and after head down to Hastings old town for a meal and a sit beside the sea in the old town! Amazing!!!

We visited Battle Abbey for the first time, and it was a fascinating experience. We were really amazed by the scale and craftsmanship of the structure, especially considering the time period in which it was built. The site is massive, with extensive grounds to explore. Our favourite part was the Common Room, which had a particularly atmospheric feel. There are also exhibitions on the ground floor, which help visitors better understand the history of the building. They offer guided group tours as well, which we found very enjoyable, I believe they run every 15–30 minutes though I’m not entirely sure. Overall it was a very lovely experience.
