Great day out at Beacon Hill Country Park, beautiful sunshine and great walks. Discovered these two taking shade from the midday heat. Plenty of parking available at both car park. Fabulous panoramic views from the summit of the spectacular Leicestershire countryside
Neet and clean place for hiking, spending family time, can take your pet dog over there at weekends, can have lunch with scenic views while looking yaks having their grass over there
We went for a walk. It was very natural and colourful, also there were lots of caterpillars. But it was very nice. We had a picnic of food that we bought from home. We saw some cows, bulls and horses.
The real highlight is the unexpected encounter with the stunning cows. Seeing these gentle giants grazing peacefully against the backdrop of the park's ancient millions year old rock formations is absolutely amazing. During the spring, the native woodlands transform with vibrant carpets of bluebells, adding a delicate touch to the otherwise rugged heathland landscape.
We parked in the lower car park, there is a higher car park too! The lower car park has a cafe and toilets and play park next to it as well as access to walking routes and a rhododendron labyrinth. The trailer have some tree and bird identification signs which is lovely for children. Car parking up to £5.50 for the day. Ideal for taking some games and a picnic. We walked up to the top of the hill, some lovely views and on the way back down on the other side was a sea of bluebells.
