We visited quite late on a sunday so visitors area was closed and there were no toilets available. Boys enjoyed the play area and there were some nice walks for us, although as it was our first visit we werent too sure of all the walks and there doesnt seem to be any signs as you walk round or we didnt see any.

It's the kind of spot that becomes a firm favourite very quickly. The woodland itself is simply beautiful – a rich, varied mix of ancient and newer woodland that changes character wonderfully with the seasons. Spring brings a glorious carpet of bluebells that genuinely takes your breath away, while summer turns the whole place into a lush, shady green canopy that's perfect for escaping the heat. Autumn is arguably the most spectacular season here, with the trees exploding into a stunning palette of gold, amber, copper, and russet that makes every walk feel like wandering through a painting. Even on a grey winter's day there's a stark, beautiful charm to the bare branches and quiet, misty paths. In short, Belhus Woods Country Park is a fantastic, diverse, and genuinely beautiful green space that the local community should feel enormously proud of. It's wild, welcoming, full of life, and endlessly enjoyable no matter the season or the weather. If you haven't visited yet, you really are missing out on one of Essex's finest outdoor spaces. One of the most pleasant parks in Essex - plenty of space for a long dog walk, established paths and tracks that are not completely muddied out, woods and fields and effective sign posting. There is a cafe that is dog-friendly where you can get a map of the area. The area is full of seating for you to enjoy the views and there is plenty of car pay-for-parking space too.

This was my first time coming to Belhus Woods Country Park, and I was so impressed! I originally went looking for somewhere peaceful to walk my dogs, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. It’s a beautiful park where families gather to enjoy quality time together, and nature lovers can take in the calming and peaceful surroundings. The families are so friendly, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere. My dogs even made new dog friends and had a great time interacting with other dogs it was very nice to watch. The whole park has a really nice, positive vibe that makes you feel relaxed. There’s also a lovely café where you can grab a snack for yourself and even treats for your pups. They’ve thoughtfully provided outdoor drinking bowls for dogs, which I really appreciated. Just a minute’s walk from the café, there’s a beautiful large outdoor play set for kids even big teens which makes it perfect for families. Nearby, there are clean and well-maintained public toilets as well as picnic benches, making it easy to spend a few hours here comfortably. The park itself is very clean and well looked after. The lakes are absolutely stunning, with swans and birds that are a delight to see a real treat if you’re into photography or simply love nature. Parking is reasonably priced I paid £5.30 for 4 hours, which I think is a good deal considering how much the park has to offer. I would definitely recommend Belhus Woods Country Park if you’re looking for a lovely day out, whether it’s with family, friends, or your dogs. It’s the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and friendly community vibes.
