Visit websiteView menuI recently travelled all the way from Birmingham to visit this beautiful palace after searching on Google, and it completely lived up to the hype. What an incredible day out! The views are absolutely stunning – panoramic, peaceful, and perfect for soaking in the scenery. As we arrived in spring, the trees were bursting with fresh new leaves, creating a magical green canopy that made everything feel alive and vibrant. The nature walk around the grounds was breathtaking, with lovely sights at every step. My little kids loved the dedicated play area – it’s safe, spacious, and gave them plenty of room to run around while we relaxed nearby. There’s also a small on-site restaurant that was really handy, with clean toilets, which added extra convenience after the long drive. Overall, the palace and its surroundings feel like a hidden gem – well-maintained, family-friendly, and worth every mile. I’d highly recommend it for a peaceful escape mixing history, nature, and fun for the kids. That said, one small issue slightly affected the experience. Dog poop was scattered here and there along some paths, which isn’t ideal with young children or a buggy. More noticeably, several people were walking their dogs off-lead, and when they came near us, my little ones got scared and started crying. Not everyone is comfortable with loose dogs, especially parents with toddlers. It would be great if visitors kept their pets on leads in shared family areas and if a few signs could help remind people. Despite these minor hiccups, the positives far outweigh everything else. The springtime beauty, excellent views, kids’ play area, and peaceful atmosphere made it a memorable family trip. Wish to visit again !
Even in October, it's a beautiful place with magnificent huge elderly trees and extensive views. Very peaceful place. Reasonable parking mid day mid week but I suspect can be busy at weekends. Excellent tea rooms with quality coffee and delightful choice of cakes.
Bellevue Park is lovely I was happy there was a good parking spot in the middle level because I only knew about the entry points at the top and bottom of the park It is on a hillside of course The parking in the middle brings you within 20 metres of the cafe that was a hot-house for tropical plants in years gone by when I visited as a child with my grand-dad - he loved to take me and my sister to the bandstand where a brass band played on a Sunday... happy days The Cafe is nice, it has lots of rooms and good areas for people with dogs, there were lots of nice dogs in the park The Cafe has good food and good coffee, I had scones, jam and cream. We had a family get together to celebrate grancha's birthday, he was a wonderful man The park is memorable for it's beautiful first trees I think There are great views We sat on the terrace which was lovely, on a delightful summers day There was no rush and we stayed out in the sun quite sometime before going inside We sat in comfortable chairs in a shaded area and chatted some more before leaving We had a lovely day
On my way home I crossed this park, after a busy day at work a little relaxation surrounded by nature. Flowers, birds, the wind whistling through the branches of the trees, everything green and quiet. The park is large, has toilets, a playground for children, clean and well maintained. Magnolia, daffodils and other flowers color the park.
Belle Vue Park is without doubt the prettiest park in Newport. Throughout the year it offers beautiful colours. The tea rooms and bandstand are especially gorgeous. Offering refreshments and bathroom facilities in the old ornate building, which also has craft and food market events in summertime. The bandstand has the occasional activity or event going on through the summer. There is another court yard with centre fountain, but sadly I have noticed it has been unkept and is looking shabby of late, which is a shame. The roman columns are also a real gem at this park, especially pretty in autumn with bright red leaves cascading over the top. I really do love this park and often walk my dog there as it is peaceful and popular with dog walkers, having bowls of water dotted around the park to keep them hidrated during the walk. It's also a great park for families with children, having lovely walks, with lots of open space for a picnic, and a playground area that is well kept with all the usual park apparatus. On the down side, parking isn't great as you have to pay, and it isn't very big so can get full very quickly in summer, but there is free parking outside the upper gates if you're lucky enough to find a space! Also, I would say, this park isn't fully disability friendly, and it is important to note that it is steep on a hillside so may be tricky in parts. Saying that though, it is fairly accessible, with wide, well maintained pathways that give access to most areas if you can't use the steps, but for wheelchair users, I think you'd struggle and would definitely need a helping hand to fully enjoy this park. All in all, this park is definitely worth a visit. Peace and tranquility are assured.
