Visit websiteReally good, kids really loved it, lots of things to see in a small place, it's packed with information. Staff really lovely, very friendly and welcoming. we would definitely come back again. A few little things for kids to do like the tunnel and school area. Free to get in or you can donate if you choose too. We got some teddy's from the gift shop which were very reasonably priced.
What a delightful place to visit! Ken was very knowledgeable, funny, and charming. We learnt a great deal from chatting with him. He also made some fantastic recommendations for our next visit to Northumberland. Tea on the train was also a lovely addition to our wonderful morning in Bellingham. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
A fantastic little attraction which looks so small from outside but quite large once inside. A little shop too but I thought it was extremely informative and interesting..... The heritage centre should really charge as it would be worth paying something to keep it running..... A lovely place to visit and there's the cafe on the train outside.
Very small but really good for a little trip. There is a small museum style place discussing village life from pre war to closer to today. Spanning things like coal & iron industry, the war and farming. Fun things for kids to keep occupied with; finding mini lambs in the exhibitions, old school desks with colouring. A coal tunnel to crawl through and toys and books. Next to the little museum and shop is a train carriage which operates as a cafe selling fresh soups, sandwiches and cakes / baked treats. Or afternoon tea if thats your thing. Very reasonably priced. Cake and drinks for 4 cost just over £20. Free entry or suggested donation, we bought a few things at the shop.
Friendly welcome in the museum/shop. Guys in there were mines of information with some very interesting snippets about everything in the museum and current local amenities including Taxi recommendation for Pennine Way walkers. Called in at the railway carriage when we smelt the bacon cooking! Lovely. May come back for tea on the train. Parked all day in the car park - no problem 😊
