Nice little park for a quick scroll. Whipped round in about 10 minutes but all neat and tidy. Looks nice for a picnic. Also you can cross the road and then explore the trails that go around the Newcastle United training ground for a longer work.

Checking out the park for grandson, nice play area, good wide footpaths and near to railway (securely fenced off). The place ticks all the boxes and we will be back.

Love this small park. Great walk with the dogs and also a play area for kids. Parking is available for a charge as well. Update - you don't need to pay for parking now.

Benton Quarry park is a site of only three hectares yet it offers a compact, diverse environment with a range of leisure, educational and community uses. It is one of North Tyneside's Local Neighbourhood Community Parks offering a landscaped environment with some nature conservation interest and a range of facilities such as children's play and sitting out areas. To view a map of the park click on the related document below. The central area of the park is made up of a gravel path circling an area of grass that has been left to grow to encourage nature conservation and surrounded by dense tree coverage. This is in contrast to the northeast area, where this enclosed character opens out to a sweeping, large, open field. The south area of the park has a children's play site and car park. The play site is visible from the road and is colourful and vibrant. It has been designed with various accessible pieces of equipment installed to allow use by all children, and is fenced to prevent access by dogs. The rear section of the park is covered by amenity grassland and is surrounded by mature, semi-mature broadleaf trees and native woodland trees. Rough grassland also covers a good section of this park making it an ideal habitat for wildlife Benton Quarry Park fulfils an important role, providing a gateway from the urban environment to a secluded natural escape. The presence of the Park Warden not only ensures the site is clean, tidy and well maintained, but provides a friendly community contact and organiser of events, activities, group visits and educational walks. The park is a wonderful facility. It is a place where people can walk, play and relax, whilst also encouraging biodiversity. It is a rural-feeling haven in an urban environment; it is quiet and peaceful despite being beside the busy Whitley Road. Parking There is a gravel car park at the main entrance to the quarry, which has the capacity to hold 18 vehicles. There is a nominal charge for parking, which is 20p per two hours Monday-Friday. Bike parking Currently there are no formal bike parking facilities on site, though the boundary and play site fence can be informally utilised as required. Metro/Bus Benton Metro Station is approximately a ten minute walk, located on Station Road B1317. Benton Quarry Park is served by the Go North East Bus Service Number 81.
