Far More Than a Garden Centre Some garden centres sell plants. Others add a café and a gift shop. Bents seems to have looked at that formula and decided it wasn't ambitious enough. The first thing that strikes you about Bents is the sheer scale of the place. Every time you think you've reached the end of it, another section appears. Turn a corner and you're looking at home furnishings. Turn another and there's outdoor living displays, specialist foods, gifts, seasonal displays, gardening equipment and enough inspiration to keep even the most reluctant shopper occupied for hours. This isn't somewhere you pop into for a bag of compost and leave ten minutes later. It's a destination in its own right and can quite comfortably fill an entire afternoon. One of the biggest surprises is the range of food options available. Rather than relying on a single café, Bents offers several completely different dining experiences. During our visit we chose the tapas café, and it proved to be an excellent decision. The food was fresh, flavourful and clearly prepared with care. Dishes arrived as they were ready rather than in a strictly structured order, which occasionally creates a slightly haphazard pace. In reality, that wasn't a problem at all. If anything, it felt more like a succession of small courses arriving throughout the meal, encouraging everyone to share, sample and enjoy the variety. The relaxed approach suited the style of dining perfectly. If tapas isn't your thing, there are plenty of alternatives. Outside you'll find permanent food vendors offering options such as burgers and other quick-service favourites, alongside a traditional fish and chip offering. Inside, there are more conventional café choices as well as a larger restaurant that feels more familiar to anyone who has visited a traditional garden centre restaurant. The diversity of options means that whatever your appetite or budget, you're unlikely to leave hungry. Of course, food is only part of the attraction. The garden centre itself is enormous. You can browse everything from a £5 hand trowel to a fully installed swim spa costing tens of thousands of pounds. One moment you're looking at seeds and planters, the next you're standing in front of luxury outdoor kitchens, premium garden furniture or a swim spa complete with a motorised cover that costs more than many used cars. It's that sense of discovery that makes Bents so enjoyable. Every section seems to open into another, and every visit feels like there's something you didn't notice the last time. What impresses me most is how well it all works together. Despite the scale, it never feels chaotic. The displays are thoughtfully presented, the environment is pleasant to wander through, and there's a genuine sense that people come here not simply to shop, but to spend time. Calling Bents a garden centre almost feels unfair because it doesn't really describe the experience. It's part garden centre, part home and lifestyle destination, part food hall and part day out. Whether you're looking for gardening supplies, home inspiration, a good meal, or simply somewhere enjoyable to spend a few hours, Bents delivers all of it exceptionally well. Come for a plant if you must. Just don't be surprised if you're still wandering around a few hours later.

My child and I really love this place—the beautiful, clean environment, delicious food, and wide variety of plants all give a vibrant sense of life and energy. The selection is comprehensive; you can find everything you want to buy here. Not to mention, their food is excellent too. We especially enjoy the strawberry tart, and it's definitely a great spot to relax and unwind.

First time to bents anll the way from Huddersfield and won’t be the last. Had our fur baby with us so went to the pet cafe, the staff were fantastic, so very friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond getting water for our dog a few times. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. I had a brief look around the rest of the garden centre but will return without the dog to have a look properly. Also loved the woodland walk. Look forward to visiting again, I can see why my grandma used to visit over 20 years ago !

Had a lovely day out here. I say day out as we spent around 6-7 hours in here. The centre is huge and offers not just plants and gardening items but plenty of homeware, gifts, clothing and food supplies. There’s plenty of choice in the restaurant area from hot food to salads and sandwiches and there are dedicated areas for this such as a deli counter, hot food counter and then hot drinks and cakes which are very large portion size. There’s a deal in the evening for a hot meal, tea/coffee or refillable soft drink for £9.99 from 4pm. The food is excellent quality and there are plenty of tables. I think the ordering process was a bit chaotic if I’m giving an honest review. As someone who is autistic, I wouldn’t say it’s autism friendly because the queuing system doesn’t follow a specific route, the queuing is in different directions for the different options and this can cause overwhelm. I had to go and sit down and let my husband deal with it all. The food was really nice though so I can recommend it and found it to be good value. There’s a dinosaur themed crazy golf course at the rear of the garden centre with its own small cafe and a lake area which is nice to sit by on a warm day. It was an enjoyable experience and I will definitely return.

I am a tourist from Canada, and my friend who lives in Manchester took me to Bents Garden and Home. It’s such a lovely place to hang out for breakfast, with a great variety of food and a very clean and comfortable seating area. The highlight for me was the birds flying around, which made the whole atmosphere feel so close to nature 🐦🌿. Overall, the food was good, but the marinated chicken sold at the supermarket section was a wonderful surprise—so delicious! 😋 I’m really glad I had the chance to visit this place and would definitely recommend it to others.
