We visit here often with our dog to watch planes! It's beautiful on a nice day but tends to be a bit busy, day's when the weather isn't as nice are normally pretty quiet! The swans/ducks really don't bother you! The road to the car park used to be a nightmare but it's recently been repaired and is much nicer to drive down now!

I've never been here before, And I have lived not far from the area, I loved it so much that I came back twice with my husband to walk the Dog. Beautiful big lake, lots of wildlife, stepping stones, benches. Woods, clean paths. On the left of the lake, there is bird hides, but they belong to Northumberland wildlife, so you have to be a memeber to access these. You can't access around the full the lake. But there is bridges and walks to a smaller lake. On our first trip we parked in the fairly large car park by the Big Waters. On the second walk. We walked from seaton Burn and took the walk to the lake. With the lovley warm weather we amd the dog had a lovley time. There is a park just on the outskirts of the Big waters. And a little shop if you wanted to take a picnic. A bus you could get that takes you to Dinnington village and walk along.

One of mine and my kids favourite accessible northeast nature reserves. Daughter uses a wheelchair so accessibility is a must for us. Big waters is a Really lovely place. Shame to see on this times visit that there's a lot of dog waste being left around though. And directly on the paths aswell. Didn't notice any dog waste bins around or even in the carpark, so maybe this is why, although it's never been an issue in the past so not sure. Always amazed at the size of the pine cones in a certain patch of trees here. They're fabulous! Can see them in the pics, they Will be dropping soon so if you do crafts with them or even harvest the seeds/replant them or just love collecting this sort of thing I highly recommend a visit 😁 Unfortunately the little paddling spots have all dried up due to the recent spates of hot weather we've had and due to that they've all also overgrown with plants now too. Doesn't take away from the beauty of the place but you can really see how much nature is struggling with the lack of rain 😢 despite this, we will be back and hopefully the dog walkers will have been more considerate by next times visit. PICK UP YOUR DOGS POO!!!
