Great little place to spend an hour or two. The Roman Fort is well preserved albeit small. The centre really shines with its attention to detail for younger visitors. A wide range of dress up options for kids to get into the spirit of what they're experiencing (Roman soldier, civilian and archaeologist are the options). Plus the craft cabin where visitors can make peg dolls, colouring in, cardboard sword making and other crafts and games. Nice selection of gifts in the gift shop (nice and pocket money prices really). Snacks available. Really friendly staff. We had a great time thank you and will be back for sure.

Visited on the bank holiday weekend. I wouldn't dare complain about the weather being nice in the northeast but it was certainly hot. I felt a bit bad for the volunteers and staff having put so much effort in for such a hot day. It was a brilliant place both of my girls had a good time and you could see everyone there was passionate about the fort and their work there. Would highly recommend for a day out for the family if they have the event on again.

We had the place to ourself and the bath- house was well presented and gave a good picture of how things were arranged. The staff member in the kiosk was very helpful and gave us a brief introduction. The small road to the site is quite rough towards the end but there was plenty of parking. It is quite a small site compared to others as much remains to be uncovered. There is a small reduction for English Heritage members.

A great little local attraction, that packs a lot on for such a small site. Without attractions being there you'd typically spend around an hour - an hour and a half per visit (children dependant). There is a shed for some children's activities to take place, such as mosaic creations. Entrance was £6 per adult and £4 per child. There is a concession for others too. There are toilets available at the site, but they are only portaloos, and not an enclosed brick building.
