Fantastic site for orchids, particularly Dark Red Helliborine. First two weeks of July is the best time to visit.

Beautiful vistas which reflect the local mineral architecture. You can spot rare orchids and butterflies here, which is worth a trip out in itself. There are rare orchids and the Durham argus butterfly if you're lucky. There is good safe running space for dogs and quiet picnics.
