Explore a charming converted farmyard shopping village with family activities, tea rooms, and local craft businesses set among historic Essex buildings.

Blake House Craft Centre is a unique shopping destination housed in beautifully restored 18th and 19th century listed buildings, including former stables, cattle sheds, and cart lodges arranged around a picturesque courtyard. Once a traditional farmyard, this hidden gem has been transformed into a flourishing craft centre featuring an eclectic mix of small, friendly local businesses offering a wide range of goods and services. The centre offers more than just shopping—it provides a complete family experience with on-site tea rooms set in a renovated 17th century timbered barn, family-friendly activities suitable for all ages, and regular events throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy the rustic charm of the historic buildings while browsing the exclusive range of shops, with opportunities to encounter the centre's resident peacocks as they explore. Families will appreciate the comprehensive facilities including free parking, public toilets, disabled toilets, baby changing facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere for coach parties. With no entry fee and amenities designed for all ages and abilities, Blake House Craft Centre provides an engaging day out combining shopping, dining, and entertainment in the heart of the Essex countryside.

Blake House Craft Centre is a fantastic place to visit. There’s a great variety of independent shops all in one place, so there’s always something interesting to browse and discover. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and it’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a lovely destination for visitors. And without doubt, the guitar shop is a must-visit for anyone who loves music. A brilliant selection and a really welcoming place to stop in. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

A quirky place to visit with many different units to browse. Our favourite was Catherine Price Encaustic Art Studio off the Grain Shed Cafe.
