Highly recommended! As soon as you arrive, you get a personalised tour. They have really brought the Victorian world to life. You will see how the Victorians washed their clothes, cooked, used toilet, slept and entertained themselves with boardgames. Then you go onto the school and get to see the cane, Dunce's hat, books that were studied, stationary used as well as try on Victorian clothes. It is a must-see! ☺️

Lovely original victorian school with well kept artifacts. Came here for half term crafts workshop. Lovely friendly staff, a good supply of great resources & clear worksheets for children & adults alike to follow & make various fun creations. Tea & coffee orders taken & delivered to your 'desk' while you made your creations. Prices of teas were slightly on the high side, £6.80 for two teas in cardboard cups. Cafe on site, but we didn't visit this. Would recommend a visit with children in the holidays when good workshops are available.

This museum is absolutely worth visiting. It offered far more than we expected. The volunteer guides are incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and welcoming. There’s an excellent variety of exhibits from different eras, along with plenty of hands-on activities—including a piano we enjoyed playing! We also got to practice handwriting with ink and a fountain pen, and even dress up (you’re never too old!). The headmaster’s house is fascinating as well; it really makes you appreciate the space and modern conveniences we have in our homes today. The café is lovely, with reasonably priced food and drinks. We spent about two and a half hours there but could easily have stayed longer if we hadn’t had another commitment. Highly recommended!

We went there for the Halloween crafts session with my daughter, and it was such a lovely experience! We could choose any pumpkin we wanted, and everything we needed for the crafts was provided. The place was very clean and well-organised, and my daughter had a great time. All the ladies there were very friendly and helpful, which made the experience even nicer. We’ll definitely join their future events too!

Situated in the small town of Hitchin the museums offers a nice experience about how the school system worked in the past. It's situated near the centre and you can park in one of the 3 car parks just a couple minutes walk (pay&display). The train station is 15 minutes walk. The museum is opposite of Asda. The staff is helpful, nice and give a very nice tour of the museum. They even offer a ''look back experience'' for children. You also have a small coffee shop and toilets. It brought back memories from my primary school years. It's really worth visiting with friends, family or school trips.
