Brilliant little museum. Lots of info and the opportunity to go into the original tunnel shaft of 1843. Arrive from the Overground and you travel through the same Thames tunnel that was built by Brunel. Amazing.
We really enjoyed this museum (two engineers and our 10 year old). The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The work of the Brunels has much wider significance than just London, and it's great that people can learn more in a very hands-on experience. The gift shop also had some thoughtful pieces, and the visitor toilets are excellent.
A small museum but containing many interesting elements. You can understand the development of underground tunnel in London and relevant economic history. The staffs here are all kind and willing to help!
This is a lovely little museum with a warm welcome from the ticket desk, lots of fascinating detail about the Tunnel (which I’d just travelled through on the Windrush Line) and the Brunels (father and son). Plus the tunnel shaft itself, a miracle of Victorian engineering. These small London museums are wonderful little glimpses into Londoners lives in the past. It’s in a charming part of Rotherhithe too, close to The Mayflower pub and St Mary’s Church
WOW 🤩 what a fantastic little museum housed in one of the original Thames Tunnel buildings. It is primarily about the construction of the Thames Tunnel under the Thames by Brunel and you can access one of the original shafts sunk to build the tunnel. It has so many colourful displays and models with so much information and hidden facts ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and all the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you (Grazie, Obrigado) HIGHLY recommend a visit to the Brunel museum and the area is filled with so many original buildings as well and 2 original pubs 😎
