Visit websiteSpectacular little railway with a fantastic hobby shop on one end and a network rail connection on the other, also very nearby a model railroad attraction. A superb way to spend a day with wall-to-wall trains. In addition, it has a parallel trail and intermediate flag stops to accommodate out-and-back hiking trips. I enjoyed myself immensely.
Great little Narrow Guage steam railway. Loved the journey through the countryside, again located in Norfolk. Loads of history associated with this heritage railway, we loved it and it was a hot sunny day. The model shop is quite big and well stocked for all your model railway bits. A nice relaxing lunch at the end of the line by the broads.
My first visit and a very good impression made. A great deal of care has gone into the organisation and a visit is highly recommended. I didn't mention the staff and I should have done because they are all so friendly and helpful. Ten out of ten!!
Brilliant.!! Lovely little trains, nice clean comfy carriages, loads of room tho, and woth fantastic staff, had a really wonderful experience here 👍 We did the cream tea express, the last train of the day and you get a free cream tea. The only thing is, with one vegan, who only drinks coffee, and another gluten & dairy intolerant, a cream tea is not exactly what you want, but the lovely ladies at the station totally exceeded our expectations and went out of their way to meet our our somewhat restrictive and awkward dietary requirements. They were fantastic.! It's a good long trip too, with a tunnel and bridges, around 9 miles each way, a full 45 minutes, so an hour and a half on the train in total, not like some other steam trains with only a couple miles of track. The countryside is beautiful and there's lots of wildlife to spot on the route. We took 3 dogs along, but it was well worth the money they charge, and we had a great time, really enjoyed ourselves. Worth remembering it's not for profit too, which is nice, we need more of that these days. Both terminus stations have a fair amount to look at, you can see inside the workshop at Aylsham, plus there's a small musuem, and a great cafe. Wroxham has stuff to see too, and there are interesting things along the way, so if you have the whole day, you can buy their rover ticket, catch an early train, visit the villages en route, and catch the last train back home, with free parking at either end. Highly recommended, this was one of the best steam train visits ever.! And it's the staff who make this a really special day, they were all really friendly, including the drivers and engineers, (who can tend towards being a bit special & 'stand offish', elsewhere). Well done Bure Valley.! 🥰
The stations are very well kept. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The shop has an extensive stock of gifts and modelling materials. The engines are immaculate and the line is ideal to see the beautiful countryside. A grand day out for all ages. The history of how this line even managed to come about is a tribute to all who gave so much to see this become a reality.
