Nice heritage railway, next to the town, for an afternoon. Traditional station with cafe, bar, gift shop and toilets. Small car park but larger car parks around the town. A quaint museum with lots of local railway artifacts. Helpful and friendly staff. They run events so can get very busy. They have pacers and diesel engines and some other rolling stock. The train journeys are about 10 mins each way would be great if it could be a little longer, however you buy a rover ticket and can ride all day. There is a children's play area, next to the brewery, along the line, and dogs are welcome.

Not far off the A5 is this charming heritage preservation railway located in the small town of Oswestry. It might only have a short run of about 2 miles but for £8 for an adult, half or slightly less for child, you can take as many journeys as you like, it's a bit of fun. Plus at the other end is a brewery and distillery, probably also have soft drinks to.

Fantastic railway. It is obviously well supported by volunteers. The day we travelled was by diesel but it does offer steam. The brewery at Weston Warf is fantastic and very popular. We had not booked a table, most had. They accommodated a table for two, and food was superb.

Fantastic little railway!! Visited with my partner and we had a lovely time. The ride is short at only 10 minutes but theres lots to see out the window and we loved the carriage compartment to ourselves! We travelled at 11am on Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Staff in the shop were really friendly and we will be sure to be back.

Fabulous little herritage line with a spectacular main station at Oswestry. Very family friendly line as not too long for the kids. The line starts at Oswestry and finishes at Western Wharf station where you can find and excellent utilisation of a former LNER MK3 buffet coach that still to this day maintains its role with seating inside and out. This is flanked by Stonehouse Brewery - a fine establishment for food and drink. A visit to the Musuem that is situated across the car park in Oswestry is an absolute must which displays artifacts from Britains great railway history. If you are lucky you will greeted by local celebrity Mr Paul Evans inside the museum who will show you around and also holds just as much history and information as the pieces on display as he is indeed an ex Great Western Railways locomotive fireman from the steam hayday! You can pick up a copy of his book titled 'Steaming Through Life' (absolute must have if you're into the railways) i was fortunate enough for him to sign my copy. A fabulous historic Great British establishment inside one of Britain's finest towns. A must see.
