Small reserve round the bay from Mermaid Quay. Well worth a visit - water rails were calling from both sides of the path through the reedbeds.

This is a cute little break away from the business of the city. There is a path through the edge of the wetlands and a short out and back board walk. The wetlands here would benefit from a board walk that connects to create a loop around them. Considering it's small size it seems to attract a good variety of birds. (We saw a heron fly over and rest in the reeds). It is also free to access. There are more impressive wetlands and nature reserves in Cardiff. It would be worth visiting if you are visiting Cardiff Bay but if you are in other parts of Cardiff or South Wales. I'd pick one of the others to travel to.

Great area for wildlife at anytime of year. Good paths for walking and lots of bits to take care of the needs of your dog. A good number of benches to rest and watch the world and the wildlife.
