Carrickfergus Urban Farm is a cherished local attraction and well-kept secret that welcomes families and visitors from across Northern Ireland. Established 20 years ago by tenant Linda Bennett, the farm has grown into a thriving community space that combines therapeutic animal care with a working garden centre and social enterprise. Visitors can explore the farm and meet a variety of animals up close, including popular pet goats, pigs, ponies, poultry, waterfowl, geese and small pets. The venue operates as both a relaxation space and an active community hub where service users demonstrate their skills and passion while engaging visitors in all aspects of running the farm and gardens. The farm offers free admission for groups, individuals and families of all ages, making it an accessible destination for a day out. The on-site Dancing Goat Cafe provides refreshments, and the venue is pushchair-friendly, accommodating families with young children from birth onwards. It's an ideal spot for families seeking a relaxed outdoor experience with animals and nature in a genuine community setting.

It's a nice wee free farm very limited amount of animals. You can buy feed for £0.50 per bag or also bring your own veg. There is a cafe on site so you are not allowed to bring your own food for picnic. Only takes a few minutes to go around half an hour at most with 4 kids feeding the goats and chickens then a quick play in the wee play area.

Lovely farm, my little boy really enjoyed our trip to this farm. They have a cafe. Staff are so friendly. I brought my own carrots and apples to feed the apples. You could also bring your own picnic. Definitely would take another trip back.

Nice farm 😄 for kids to enjoy and feed them. Bring your own healthy fruits and vegetables for animals. Also no tickets required so you can visit anytime and a lot of plants are available to buy as well.

Great little hidden gem. Spent hours here with the kids, feeding animals, having lunch and playing in the woods. A cool community as well as being a farm, café and garden centre. Worth a visit - free entry but make sure to donate, it's worth it.
