A lovely place to visit, great for walking and cycling and picnics and lots more besides. We bought cream scones and tea for two and they were enormous, however, the scones were dry and seemed a bit hard and stale which was a shame. On reflection we should have mentioned it at the time. Ice cream is really lovely but a bit pricey, especially for a family. I understand that it probably helps to raise coiffers but nevertheless in this current climate with the cost of living being so high, it's a bit steep.

Had a wonderful day at Carsington Water, Ashbourne! 😊 🅿️ parking available (reasonable cost), 🚻 clean toilet facilities, and 🍛 refreshments on site, which makes it very convenient for families. No entry fees for visitor center and it closes by 4.30pm The Visitor Centre is excellent and very informative. The information is presented in a simple, clear, and engaging way, making it easy for children to understand and learn about nature, wildlife, and the local environment. The displays are well-organized, interactive, and educational, making it a great experience for both kids and adults. The play park is fantastic for kids 🛝, and there is so much open space for children to ride their bikes safely and enjoy themselves 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️. We also enjoyed bird spotting around the water 🦆🐦, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. What impressed us most was how engaging the area is for children. Throughout the site, there are interesting facts to read, balance trails, small games, and interactive activities that keep kids entertained and encourage them to walk and explore while having fun 🌿✨. Overall, it’s a calm, beautiful, and family-friendly place. A perfect day out with children, offering plenty of space, nature, and activities to keep them engaged. Highly recommended! 😊🌞💙

The Visitor Centre was very interactive and informative. Polite and helpful ladies to welcome us. Didn't buy anything or go to the cafe. Did the mini walk as husband on crutches. Lovely views. Plenty of parking.

Walked around the reservoir, 8 mile walk, a few bits up hill but manageable. Gravel path all round. Could do with a lot more benches though for having a little break for a packed lunch.
