Visit websiteInteresting iron age village. Cafe and shop are good. Walk through them and there is nice walk up to the hill top. Enough to do to occupy your self for a couple of hours.
I had such a beautiful experience learning about Iron Age culture and their tools! While the preservation could be improved, it is still a fantastic place to discover fascinating facts about how people lived during that era.
I visited Castell Henllys Iron Age Village in Meline on 28 October 2025 with family & it was an absolutely fantastic experience. If you’re interested in local history & want a day out that feels genuinely immersive, this is the place to go. The village is reconstructed on the exact site where the original roundhouses stood over 2000 years ago. Walking into the hillfort feels like stepping into another world. Inside the roundhouses, we met a member of the "tribe" who was incredibly knowledgeable, he really knew his stuff and brought the history of the Demetae tribe to life with amazing stories and facts. Parking is free, which is a great bonus. They have dedicated EV charging points. I managed to charge my VW ID.5 here while exploring, which was super convenient. Note that while parking is free, there is a charge for using the EV points (accessed via the Dragon Charging app/network). There is a lovely cafe right at the entrance/visitor center. It’s a great spot to grab a coffee or a bite to eat before or after your walk up to the fort. Generally open 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (daily during the main season from March to October). During winter months, they often move to weekend-only hours or shorter days (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM), so check their website if visiting late in the year. Adults: £10.00 Children/Concessions:£7.00 - £8.50 Family Tickets: ~£30.00 (Prices may vary slightly depending on the season and Gift Aid options). It’s more than just a walk; it’s an educational journey. Between the barefoot trail, the woodland walks & the expert staff inside the roundhouses, there is so much to learn about how people lived in Iron Age Pembrokeshire. Highly recommended for families, history buffs or anyone looking for a peaceful but informative day out.
Well this is an interesting place, I imagine at the height of summer it's stunning, but a misty day in April hmmmm. The woodlands are stunning and teaming with bird life. The actual camp is very interesting but wasn't quite what I expected 🤔 all in all a pleasant was to spend a few hours.
We were blessed with a lovely sunny day which showed the beautiful location and site at its best. It's a hill fort so there's a short bit fairly steep 10 minute walk. The visitor centre and cafe is excellent with tasty and moderately priced food. Friendly and helpful staff.
