Mixed experience. All the volunteers were lovely and very helpful. Came with a largish family group and were made very welcome. Then ordered food and drinks which was a slightly laborious process but fine. Then all shown through to the room with all the cats. We were with three young children who loved the cats and the entire experience. I came back through to the cafe room after a few minutes (pregnant and struggling with the smell) to find another large group sat at our table where we had been told to leave all our bags and everything. Felt slightly awkward and mentioned our stuff was still there, this was brushed off as "there was always someone in there". When the kids had had enough they all came back through we asked about our food and drinks (already ordered and paid for), volunteers shocked as we hadn't spent as long as they had anticipated (but not told us) with the cats, oven wasn't on. They then started making food and slowly bought over drinks. They very kindly got some colouring and books out for the kids. Pizza was decent when it arrived. The kids loved, grown ups found it slightly frustrating. Go if you love cats and want to support but really worth communicating about things like what time food is and when drinks are wanted. We had kids with us and they were only okay waiting because we had a lot of emergency food to carry them over. Volunteers lovely and very enthusiastic but honestly if we hadn't already paid for all our food and drinks I would have made a donation and gone elsewhere for lunch.

What a fabulous visit we had today at the Cat Village North Cafe! So many different, adorable cats to fuss and interact with. Even on a hot day like today, most were happy to greet us, the few that didn’t had found some nice shaded areas to hide away from the afternoon sunshine, but we still had fun trying to find the ‘hide and seekers’ being careful not to disturb their afternoon siesta. The whole experience was wonderful! Great service, and the staff are super welcoming and happy to answer any questions. The cats are all happy, healthy and get along fine with each other, even at treat time haha. We are in the process of planning another visit, because I’m already missing a special little fur baby resident called Luna, and we need to try a pizza cooked by a professional chef I might add! And as much as I can recommend the coffee, I feel a cocktail may be in order from the many alcoholic beverages on offer :) Anyone booking a visit to this amazing cafe, I dare you not to fall in love with these kitties!

We had such a lovely time at Cat Village. The cats are absolutely adorable, well-fed, well cared for, and so well behaved. You can really feel that they are loved and looked after properly. The staff were also very welcoming, friendly, and kind, which made the whole experience even nicer. What we especially loved is that this is not just a typical cat café. The cats have their own separate area, and the café area is separate too, which we think is a wonderful idea for both the cats and the visitors. It creates a calm and comfortable environment where you can enjoy cuddle time with the cats without feeling rushed. The cats looked relaxed and happy, not stressed or depressed like we have sometimes seen in other cat cafés. Overall, it was such a sweet and peaceful experience. We really enjoyed our visit and would happily recommend Cat Village to anyone who loves cats.❤️

We made another visit to the Cat Village, on Valentines day I took my wife to see the cats in the afternoon but also booked the evening meal in the Bistro. We had a great welcome from Adam and enjoyed playing with the cats. Gabe did his usual trick and perched himself on my shoulder. All the cats are well cared for and friendly. The Bistro bar is separate from the cat visit area. So you can eat in peace 😁 if this is a concern for you. Adam hand made all of the food which was tasty and great value for money. He also has a great cocktail list at amazing prices too. He is a lovely host and clearly loves his cats and wants to do right by them. If you are in the Chesterfield area or passing through, I would recommend to pop in, support this great charity and stroke some beautiful cats. We will be back again. Great work Adam and the team. 😻

I visited this cat café with my daughter and my mum, and I honestly can’t praise it enough. My daughter absolutely loves cats, and we thought this would be the perfect treat for her and it turned out even better than we hoped. She was so excited, and the moment we walked in, the hosts made us feel completely welcome. They were warm, calm, friendly, and took the time to make sure we were comfortable and knew everything we needed to know. The cats themselves are incredibly well cared for, relaxed, and affectionate. You can tell immediately how much love, time, and effort goes into looking after them. Some are rescues, too, which makes the whole experience even more meaningful. Seeing my daughter light up while interacting with them genuinely made her day. We also ordered pizza, and it was honestly delicious. Another great reason to visit! What makes this place truly special is the heart behind it. The owners put everything into creating a safe, calming, supportive environment. They even run SEND sessions and mental health support groups completely for free. It’s clear they do this out of passion and kindness, not profit, and that deserves real recognition. This café is a gem. It’s peaceful, welcoming, caring, and run by people who genuinely love what they do. I highly, highly recommend visiting, especially if you want a wholesome experience with beautifully cared for friendly cats. My daughter is still talking about it, and we’ll absolutely be visiting again.
