Shocking to see the neglected state of what was an important and significant part of Scottish football history. It was the national stadium between 1884 and 1903, hosting nine international matches as well as seven Scottish Cup Finals and two replays plus many other matches. Home of Queens Park FC and then later Third Lanark until 1967. The remains of the terracing are still there to be seen which is fantastic but it seems that nobody cares enough to preserve, restore and protect the ground. It looks a mess and even the football pitch has metal fencing around it. Very sad to see.

Not too much to say about Cathkin Park, but if you’re a football historian or historian, then this is the original home of Hampden Park, the home of Scottish football. It’s amazing after all these years that you can still see the terracing of the old ground. It really should be renovated and preserved for generations to come, but it will probably cost way too much. Now mainly used for recreational use for local residents.

A sometimes haunting reminder of the legacy of Third Lanark. Cathkin Park oozes history as well as being a lovely wooded area in the heart of the Southside. No matter the season you can get beautiful photos of nature taking back the long abandoned terraces

Great Park with lots of history. Enjoyed having a kick about here with my son and seeing the buzz he got when I told him Rangers and Celtic etc have all played there. It's a shame it was allowed to go the way it has as it still has huge potential. It's nice to see some people have started to clean up some terraces etc.
