Chagford Swimming Pool is a stunning community-run, open-air lido set on the banks of the River Teign in Devon. This magical 1930s pool is surrounded by rolling green hills and situated about half a mile outside Chagford on the Two Moors Way. The soft river water is UV treated and filtered with minimal chlorine, heated to approximately 27°C using eco-friendly air source heat pumps and solar panels. The pool caters excellently for families with young children, featuring a delightful toddler pool complete with toy boats, watering cans and ducks. The main pool depth increases from just under one metre at the shallow end to just over 2 metres at the deep end, accommodating swimmers of all abilities. Qualified lifeguards are on duty at all times, prioritizing visitor safety. The poolside offers plenty of seating with chairs, tables and parasols for shade on hot days, plus raised wooden decking along each side. At the deep end, a small grassy area bordered with wildflowers provides a peaceful spot to relax with a book or soak up the sunshine. The Tea Shed serves hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks (2pm-5:30pm), and visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics. The venue is pushchair-friendly and welcomes families with children from newborn onwards.

Clean pool, uses UV light and a touch of chlorine so you don't come out smelling like a swimming pool. Tranquility swim, not laned just chilled swimming.

One of the loveliest places I know. Superb 34m lido, unspoilt, unfussy, clean river water. Beautiful views.

Beautiful swimming pool in a wonderful setting! Absolutely loved swimming here in the sunshine, will be back in a week!! The staff are really friendly and helpful and they have set up social distancing really well, making us feel safe but also at ease! Thank you Chagford pool

Our grandson was so impressed with how clear the water was. He had a great morning with the inflatable challenge. He also remarked how warm the pool and the showers were. And mustn't forget thanks to all the lifeguards!

Fabulous place run by locals off the beaten track. Went on a sunny warm day. Opened at 1pm. Lovely hills surround the pool location. Toddlers pool there too and shallow end of main pool roped off later in the day for children. Still left enough for adults to swim. Tea hut there had fabulous cakes (Victoria sponge was gorgeous) and a tasty cuppa. If I lived nearby I would visit this pool all the time in summer. Loved this hidden gem.😁
