We had a wonderful experience at Chantry Wood. The woodland trails are beautiful and peaceful, making it a great place for a family walk. My son, who is a nature enthusiast, was especially happy to spot several birds along the way. We walked around 6 miles and thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time together as a family. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors.
Chantries Woods is a lovely place for a walk, especially if you enjoy longer walks and being outdoors. The countryside is beautiful, and if you’re lucky you might spot horses or squirrels along the way. I visited at the beginning of May hoping to see bluebells, but there weren’t any out at the time. However, there were plenty of other lovely flowers in bloom, which still made the walk very enjoyable. There is plenty of free parking, which is a big bonus. There’s also a café on site, although I didn’t visit it. Also is dog friendly. The only downside is that there’s a private farm nearby and some of the track paths can be quite dusty, so expect dusty shoes and clothes. Overall, a beautiful woodland and a great place to get out into nature and switch off.
Walter had an absolutely amazing time here whilst his Mummy was at her dog grooming seminar in nearby Godalming. We took one of the many paths and found our way through woodlands that were very safe and were great fun for our gorgeous little boy to explore. The locals were all friendly and there was a map to follow and two bins for dog poo bags. I’d maybe mark this down to a 4.9 as the car park is very small and we couldn’t park our motorhome in but that would be very picky as there was a road not far away where we could do this. All in all, a fantastic place for an off-lead walk for a very happy spaniel! 🐾💙
Quiet and serene walks around beautiful woodland. Many nice uphill paths with steps at places. Unfortunately there are many land mines of dog poos along the beautiful paths. Quite a spectacularly large number of recalcitrant dog owners around this area. Watch where you step as you drink in the views.
This is such a wonderful place for a gentle stroll or a picnic, and an absolute must-see destination in the Spring, when the bluebells are in bloom. The carpet of pretty flowers, with their delicious fragrance, set among contrasting lime green beech leaves is a tonic for the soul. There's a free car park nearby at Halfpenny Lane or you can even walk from Guildford, and you won't need a jetpack to get here. You should also consider combining your visit with a walk up to St. Martha's Church for some great views over the Tillingbourne Valley. If you've got a dog, bring it - dogs like it here. Your dog will have fun!
