Had a lovely day looking taking my time to appreciate. All previous visits have been with school groups. The volunteers were really friendly and wanting to chat this added to my enjoyment of the visit. Thank you
Lovely morning out, grounds are very well kept and plenty of exhibits to see and explore. The kids enjoyed being able to roam and go upstairs in the cottages to see all the room. Ice creams and the playground a bonus!
Fantastic day out. We went on the terrific Tuesday during half-term and thoroughly enjoyed making candles and figures from clay as well as all the other activities. Lovely people on site, great outdoor space and fantastic opportunities to walk back in time. We will definitely go again.
Easter week and a toddler arts day, what a amazing day to visit. The women on the front desk told us what activities were on, gave us a map and told us everything we needed to know.. she was so very helpful and came across so very kind. Once she told us what to expect, I couldn't wait to get inside. Wow, so many things to see.. My dad loved the old buildings and the history, my mum loved the everything, in fact some of the history brought back memories for her. My son loved the arts and crafts, making an easter hat, clay making amd enjoyed also looking at the old buildings too. I loved it for all of these reasons.. It was a fantastic day out. Having spoken to the women at the front desk and enjoying my day so much and all the days involved on the leaflet, I decided there and then to do a membership. I can't wait to visited again on Tuesdays to see what the next activities will be and get involved with other days and enjoy what Chiltern Open Air Museum has to offer.
Each individual part of this property is not earth soaking, but as a whole it is a great day out, and not just for families - although a reasonable wooden playground, goats and plenty of room to run around does help that! The vibe is just after WW2. There is a cafe and a food trucks, several good toilet areas. A small pavilion opens as a plant and crafts shop when staff are available. When we were there the candle maker was present at the far end of the sure near the woodworking building. Most summer weekends host a historical event - Vikings, Napoleon's, world war cosplayers etc
