Great day out and enjoyable heritage train journey to Cholsey. In the spring, there are three trains daily on the weekends. You can also board at Cholsey if you want to come by GWR from London - all regular and heritage trains share the same station. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, but if you need a carer ticket, this is unfortunately only available from the ticket office at Wallingford Station. It would be great to add this option to the online tickets list. The site is accessible and there is one carriage able to accommodate wheelchair users. If the car park is full, you can use the supermarket parking next door. Today the coffee shop was closed, but there is a kiosk on the platform selling drinks and snacks. There is also a gift shop and mini-museum in the restored Cambrian Coach. For the future, it would be great if the opening days could be coordinated with Aston Martin Heritage Trust visiting days, to enable attending both attractions on the same day.

The train timetable starts in March to December. It cost £13 return per adult and we had an enjoyable time riding on the vintage train. The train ran over 4 times today, we visited the shop for gifts and a ice lolly whilst we waited. The train station was very well decorated with vintage decor and had a food and drink kiosk to buy snacks before boarding on the train.

The railway organises a wonderful 1940s weekend, with something for everyone. Demonstrations or stalls on all aspects of home front during the war and more. Well worth a visit and definitely suitable for children.

We visited 10th December for the Polar Express Experience. The staff were amazing; especially on the train. Had some food and drink stalls which smelt appetising. The gift shop was expensive in my opinion. The only thing that let the whole thing down was the toilet access. Inadequate for the volume of people with no running water or alcohol gel. Parking at the multi storey and bus transfer were very efficient. As a family of 5 we have to be split up across the carriage which is always a little awkward. Would highly recommend.

What a really love day out! Went with the family (3 generations) and fun was had by all! Lovely people running it all. Quirky old fashioned cafe selling toasted sandwiches cake and tea and coffee. Gift shop. Museum. All put together really well. And a train ride! What more could you want? You can even buy rail chairs for £12. Bargain!
