Visited Christchurch Park parkrun 👌 a fantastic event in a beautiful park. Very picturesque and lots of historic features close to town centre. We arranged a meetup of my parkrun friends from Great Yarmouth, Basildon and Barking. Ipswich being a great central location for us all. Need to return sometime soon to explore in more detail and run those hills again.

Christchurch Park is one of the nicest green spaces in Ipswich—spacious, well-kept, and perfect for a relaxed walk or a quiet break. The park has a great mix of open lawns, tree-lined paths, and landscaped gardens, so it never feels repetitive. Whether you’re just passing through or planning to spend an afternoon, there’s plenty of space to unwind without it feeling crowded. One of the highlights is how naturally it complements Christchurch Mansion—you get these really nice views of the historic building framed by greenery, which makes the whole area feel a bit more special. The ponds, flower beds, and small details throughout are also really well maintained. It’s popular with locals for a reason—great for walking, reading, or just sitting on the grass when the weather’s good. Simple, peaceful, and very easy to enjoy. A must-visit if you’re in Ipswich and want a proper break from the town center.

We has such a nice experience at Illuminate Ipswich, a will say it was a 40 minutes walk, there are food stands just after 10-15 mins after you walk in. Toilets were available just near the food stands as well. To find the location you have to walk just around the park, as you go past the lake you will be able to walk a straight path then take a left turn just to the end of the ally , you just start seeing signs from there on , google maps it’s helpful as well, but I was a bit confused of the exact location. The exit is right by a street, you will be able to walk down to where you parked your car, just keep in mind they don’t have a car park of their own , just residential parking near the park.

We went to the elusive Illuminated Trail in Ipswich which was lovely when we finally found it. The postcode on the tickets takes you to the wrong gate and finding the entrance was a palaver. It was poorly signposted and the signs were too small.

The overall atmosphere is peaceful and inviting, a great place for a simple, comfortable day out surrounded by nature’s beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ipswich—Christchurch Park is a real gem that blends tradition, beauty, and local history perfectly
