Very disappointing. The so-called commentary was thin and sporadic, consisting mainly of childish trivial "fun facts" and delivered with rather indistinct and odd intonation. There wasn't that much to see anyway because most of the sights were hidden behind trees and bushes on the river bank. The daytime sightseeing cruise was completely overpriced, and an instructive lesson in what happens when a monopoly is allowed to control all of the city's river cruises...don't waste your time and money.

Really enjoyed this experience, there's a bar onboard too, very informative skipper guide and you see some lovely sights along the way. The sun did eventually make an appearance which made the experience that little bit better. Would definitely do it again.

Brilliant experience and great communication from them as our booked ride had to be cancelled due to the high water, easily sorted and on the trip next morning, all organised friendly & welcoming staff. Definitely recommend great way to see York 😊

Never having been to York, I made the mistake of thinking we could see some of… well, York from the boat. But not much. Lots of greenery and some fun information, but I’m wishing we’d have done the bus tour, as we only have one night here. (To be fair, the pilot did say that the river was extremely low today, so perhaps you get a better view on other days.) We also happened to be here on a scorcher of a day (33 Celsius), but thankfully they had umbrellas to use to protect from the sun. Also thankfully there weren’t too many people on the boat, or else the umbrellas wouldn’t have worked. The seats are VERY close together. Anyway, it was pleasant just to get to sit for a while on a blistering day.

This was a gift experience kindly bought for us by our daughters and is highly recommended if you're visiting York. The package included a 45 minute river cruise from King's Staith (1 hour if you stay on until the Lendal Bridge stop) with a fish and chips lunch. Drinks can be purchased from the bar on the lower deck. We were kept entertained by skipper (Andy) who provided an interesting and amusing commentary throughout the trip and York looked beautiful in the spring sunshine!
