🌲 Coed y Brenin translates as King's Forest - 9,000 acres of it, draped across the valleys of the Mawddach and its tributaries. Britain's first purpose-built mountain bike trail centre, but the forest roads that thread through it are a different kind of riding altogether. 🏍️ The gravel roads climb high above the river valleys and open up into proper mountain terrain - views across to the Rhinogau, Douglas firs towering on either side, the kind of riding that feels a long way from anywhere without actually being difficult to get to. ⚠️ Some of the tracks will give heavier adventure bikes a proper challenge - stick to the main forest roads and it's good to go. The rougher stuff is where the trail bikes earn their keep. 🅿️ Pont Tyn y Groes car park is the quieter entry point - free, with toilets, five miles north of Dolgellau off the A470. Smaller than the main visitor centre car park, which is paid. 📍 Off the A470, Eryri National Park. The visitor centre has a café, bike shop and showers if you need them after a long day in the forest.
One of the most beautiful mountain biking centres in the UK, where world class singletrack trails lead you through stunning woodland scenery and past spectacular waterfalls. On this occasion, we only had time to ride a couple of trails, a blue and a red, both were fantastic and we plan to be back very soon.
Invited, attended, enjoyed! What a nice place in Wales! Great views small and panoramic. Many walkings paths, bike trails with nature as great companion.
4 stars as the cafe is current closed but what a beautiful place to visit! Plenty of parking, options for length of stay available. Walking at a leisurely pace with the dog I followed the red route, it took just over 2 hours (paid for 4h when parking) and is easy to follow. It is steep and slippy in parts so sensible footwear is a must! Toilets open at the start/end and recycling/waste bins just outside. Plenty of benches along the route to stop and have a snack :)
Cafe and visitor centre currently closed, but carpark, bike trails, bike shop and toilets/showers are open. I was here to ride my bike on a very rainy day. Trails were in good condition. All stone, so no mud. After my ride I was able to clean my bike with the free bikewash and got a 3min hot shower for just £1. Great venue.
