Lovely wooded area with a lot of effort put into the Gruffalo theme. The cafe/shop has seen better days, loks very worn. From the amount of litter along the trail and shopping trolleys in the stream it seems others don't respect it as much as they should

Dear Colin Glen Team, I am now leaving a review as I’ve sent numerous emails and messages and still yet to be replied too from your horrendous customer service team!!! I’m writing to share feedback regarding my visit to your Fright Night experience on Friday, 24th October, for the 10:10 PM booking. Unfortunately, my group and I had quite a disappointing experience, and I wanted to bring this to your attention. We arrived at 9:30 PM and, upon checking in, staff were unable to locate our booking on the list. Once we were eventually directed to the starting area, we noticed the bus ride (which I had seen featured in videos) was there, but we never got the chance to go on it. It appeared to take other guests to the start of the scare forest, which made us feel like we missed part of the experience. It was myself, my mother, and my niece. We were told to wait for our group, as larger groups normally go in together, but after some time we were simply sent in alone. This really affected the atmosphere — going through with others would have made the experience much more engaging and immersive. We had paid £27 each for the full package, which included s’mores, two rollercoaster rides, and the scare container. However, most of these activities didn’t happen as expected: * Due to the wind, the fire for the s’mores wouldn’t light, and we were handed two cold marshmallows on a stick instead. * We were advised to walk around while waiting for the rollercoaster queue to go down, but by the time we returned, the ride had closed — so we didn’t get to go on any rides at all. * The scare container felt rushed and underwhelming, with none of the scares shown in the promotional videos, and no staff guidance. * One of the actors shouted directly at me for recording, even though I had only been told not to use flash — which was confusing, especially as I’ve seen other guests filming online without issue. * the zip line wasn’t even on because of the weather which is totally understandable. Additionally, in many of the videos promoting Fright Night, there were performers such as fire dancers and entertainers around the area, which really added to the overall atmosphere. However, during our visit there were none of these performances at all, which made the event feel much quieter and less lively than advertised. When we finished the forest walk, the shops was closing and food stalls were already closed, and the scare actors were leaving for the night most of them were actually getting into there cars which made us feel like the event was wrapping up early despite our booked time slot. Overall, the experience didn’t reflect what was advertised or what we paid for. While we still appreciated the forest walk itself, we didn’t get the full Fright Night package or value for money. I would really appreciate if you could offer a refund (full or partial), or the opportunity to attend on another night so we can enjoy the full experience as intended. We visited Colin Glen to do the Gruffalo Trail with our 2- and 3-year-olds and really enjoyed it. The forest park is lovely and the trail is great fun, with figures of all the characters from the Gruffalo story along the way – the kids loved spotting them. Just a tip: make sure to park at the Visitor Centre rather than the Forest Park car park, as the latter is quite far away and you’ll end up walking the trail back-to-front, which means tackling some big hills that aren’t ideal with young children. The signage could also be clearer, as it’s a bit confusing in places. The Visitor Centre has a café, though it’s a bit run down and could do with some updating. Overall, a very enjoyable visit and definitely worth doing with young kids.

I visited on 15/08/25 and had booked the one pass which included a taster session of archery, we were disappointed that the instructors skipped this part even though it was included in the email itinerary. I think they were understaffed and over booked the group which was big for only 2 members of staff and therefore ran out of time. When I asked about it I was ignored and brushed off by multiple members of staff. Fair enough if there was no time but communication would’ve been appreciated as to why we didn’t get to take part in all the activities we were looking forward to. The receptionist wasn’t much help either and the pass didn’t really seem worth it as there was a lot of waiting about for three hours for two instructors to supervise the whole group on the climbing wall and a very anti climatic finish on the coaster

Visited 27/12/2024 and parked for free at the Colin Glen Centre end. Signs state Car Park closes at 5pm, what isn’t clear is the Cafe closes at 2.40pm so our Granddaughter was upset it was closed after the walk we had as she was looking forward to a treat. There was a helpful lady at the centre shop and purchased a couple of Gruffalo toys as a memento of the visit 👍🏽 There are 4 trail paths ranging from 2km to 6.5km, we went on the Yellow trail nicknamed Englishtown trail which was 3.5km and was just manageable for 4yr old granddaughter, although few steep inclines did require lifts to assist the journey, which we did in an 1hr 45mins with stops to take pictures. A few benches along route but if mobility is an issue, pace yourself and maybe bring a walking/hiking stick aid that can handle leafy/muddy paths A recommended place to visit either by self or with family/friends ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the forest park ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the gift shop (range wasn’t big and prices a tad high) ⭐️ for the cafe for not matching the times of the car park
