We stopped for tea and cake and were not disappointed. It was Swallows and Amazons meets fantastic fruit scones, served with raspberry jam and lashings of cream.

A lovely stretch of water, away from the crowds around Windermere and Bowness. Several nice parkups, only meters away from the lake. I took a paddleboard around the lake and had a lovely time. Good access to some decent walks, although I would suggest arriving early to guarantee parking. West side of the lake is easiest to reach and *definitely* don't be tempted to try the East side in a van... very narrow roads and, although there are some places to park up, they are not always where you want them (to access the water).

It's a lovely place. We had booked on the steam gondola, but parked in the new pay & display carpark next to the museum, and walked down to the pier. Afterwards, we walked from the car up to the old copper mine, which was amazing, but be prepared for a steep walk!

Beautiful water, nice we cafe. Managed a couple of trips out on boat but because of the wind the trips were cancelled so check prior to visiting if it is windy vx
