One of the nicest little railways I have ever been to. It may be short, but the scenery is simply breathtaking. It is like you are inside a painting when you ride up the line and see the trees and the mountains. Not to mention they have built such lovely new steam replicas of old Corris Railway Engines. The Staff are really friendly too. And they gave a nice little tour of the place during my visit there too. Will definitely come again one day, and recommend a visit to anyone.
Fantastic little steam train being lovingly restored and tendered to by volunteers. Although the journey is not very long, the experience is padded out by a very interesting talk from the volunteers about their work. There is a small museum on site which is informative and a small cafe. It is pretty accessible if disabled. It is worth visiting and supporting the ambitions of these very dedicated volunteers.
Lovely, historic steam train ride for £10 return (adults). And a small museum to visit included! This 2’3” gauge, 3/4 mile railway is one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, and a lovely 90-minute/2-hour attraction. It’s close to the Corris Craft Centre if you’re visiting there. We enjoyed the talk on the history of the railway when we arrived at Maespoeth station. Check the website for operational dates.
Absolutely fantastic experience, the volunteers were all amazing, full of passion and enthusiasm for keeping this heritage railway alive. Andrew, the driver and instructor, made our Sons day by inviting him to assist with changing the slip switches to bring the engine around to the front of the carriages. When we reached Maespoeth we were greeted by more wonderful volunteers who shared some history of the railway and ensured our Son had found everything he needed to complete his "Corris quest" sheet, a little scavenger hunt of sorts to earn a prize from the shop at Corris station. Later we met many of the volunteers in the local pub and continued to talk with them about the railway and the opportunity to come and volunteer in future. Overall this was a really special experience and we will certainly be back! Huge thank you to everyone who keeps Corris station running and made it such a great day.
This is a lovely Village, museum and steam train ride to visit and enjoy. What is more amazing is that it is run by volunteers who are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The train ride is about 50 minutes and has such lovely view's. Well done to all involved for the passion involved in making this gem happen over many years of love, labor and fundraisers.
