This area of natural beauty is just amazing. This used to be an old quarry that was turned over to nature. There are walks around the area of varying lengths and plenty to see. Come here often to let my grandchildren walk with nature and enjoy the country air. I'm a bit amazed to see an Aqua park on the lake, even though there are signs all around the lake warning not to swim because of previous industrial use. Also I see this as having a negative effect on the wildlife around the lake. There is a well run Cafe and ice cream bar. *Update for the Cafe. It has undergone small work which makes it look much better. However there is no Child menu now (on Picnic Box's) and it's card only. I prefer to use cash personally. The children's play area is well set out and caters for different age groups. Next to the play area are two Cafe carts selling drinks and other items to keep adults and children refreshed. This is a place to go back to on a regular basis as we find it just great and the grandchildren love it too

Beautiful lake and surrounding area, perfect for picnics and days out to discover the wildlife.. do not swim in the lake!

This place has so much to offer besides the lake. Take a stroll around the lake and enjoy walking through nature. There are plenty of information boards that explains all the different wildlife from birds to flowers to insects and more. My grandchildren come here regularly as it's only 5 miles away. There is a play area for young children to run wild in (with supervision of course), cafés to eat and drink in, or while you are walking round. The lake was once part of the industry that was all over Wales and has now been turned over to nature Here there is also a small museum and medieval village to explore. Definitely a place to visit regularly and at different times of the year.

Cosmeston Lake Country Park & Medieval Village is an enjoyable place for those who loves outings with family, especially along with their children. Filled with open spaces, trees & natural beauty and a lake, it is an ideal spot for a day-long trip. There is a small designated play area for children to enjoy. However, it is best to visit on a sunny day, as you can spread a mat in the open areas and enjoy sunbathing, which is a lovely experience. The park offers convenient car parking facilities. If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take bus number 94 from the Cardiff Bus Interchange. But you have to grab Day To Go Plus or Family Day To Go Plus tickets. After getting off at the Cosmeston Lakes stop, it is only a 1-2 minute walk to enter the park. You will also get an idea of the lifestyle of people's was over 600 years ago, as you will see some of the historical structures that represent the year of 1350.

Extraordinary medieval village, just 5 mins walk from the park car park. Unfortunately the doors were all shut apart from one with well ok either side. The sheeps did not seem happy to see me. The park has a beautiful lake, clear water. Plenty to walk, Nature preserved well.
