Did the tour very interesting and informative the tour guide was very good. Could have spent the day there but I was too tired. Good news is the tickets last for a year so definitely going back. Great cheese shop with a great selection of cheeses and pies vegan , vegetarian and the classic meat with a twist of great names i won't spoil it you will just have to check it out for yourselves.
Fantastic, lovely late, and a well needed bin bag as it was belting down when I went out. And then boiling when I got there so needed somewhere, to put my fleece and coat and the dogs soaking coat. Cheers.
Excellent afternoon out. Only pay for parking. Many folk in authentic period dress. Soldiers, Town Criers, embroiderers etc. great atmosphere
A beautifully conserved location with something for everyone. Canal, history, shopping, food and drink. There is a charge for the carpark but access to the site is free. There are tours for more information and exclusive access to some areas. We had Marshall lead our tour, who did a great job. The cafe serves homemade food; there are also arts and antiques for sale.
Very interesting little museum, which is free to enter. It tells the story of the mill with information boards and audio/visual displays. It's interesting too, to walk around the site and look at the water wheel and water courses. Just across the road is the canal and wharf where supplies would be brought in. A lovely place to walk around and exercise your dog. The mills now host many small shops, selling a variety of gifts and crafts. The car park is quite small, and there is a charge for parking. But considering it is free to visit otherwise, I think it was worth it.
