Always a pleasure to come here. Place of beauty. Lovely to relax and just soak up the atmosphere. Just beware of high tide across the strood. There are toilets and water for your dog available. Lots of parking. I use the mipermit app. Children's play park with benches for picnics. You can't go wrong for a few hours of recharging.
Took all the kids out here for a few hours. They loved playing on the playground equipment, although one of the playgrounds was shut but looked like it had been damaged so was in the middle of being repaired. Had a nice picnic and then walked down to the beach and had a splash in the water. Very lovely day out and a very clean and well kept country park. My only suggestion is maybe some more bins dotted around the walking trails, alot of dog waste bins but no normal waste bins. Other than that, a very good day out.
NB CHECK TIDE TIMES BEFORE PLANNING TO GO AS THE ROAD ONTO THE ISLAND FLOODS TWICE A DAY What a lovely find- stunning location - would suggest bringing food and drinks as the cafe wasn't open when we visited ( term time on a week day) and there's nowhere else even close to buy food/drink. Lovely little beach - it is sandy but lots of stones- good amount of parking and £6.30 for the whole day seemed reasonable. Lots of space for picnics and a good pay area for the kids Parking uses MIPERMIT app location 702101 - there is a machine where you can tap out on your card - no cash. No BBQs allowed
If you haven't got kids it's just a field with access to the coast. It's main asset is a car park as it's difficult to park anywhere at the east end of the island and it was £4.20 for 2 hours. We are encouraged to get outdoors and get kids away from phones but for folk with young families high charges won't encourage them. No sign of a cafe mentioned by others. The coastal walk is the main draw with views over to Brighlingsea & twitchers will have a field day.
We walked to Cudmore Grove Country as we were staying nearby. It was lovely and quiet as not many visitors. We walked past the Ww2 Pillbox and along the coast path to the Brightlingsea ferry landing. You have to book this in advance, we hadn't. We walked around towards Pyefleet channel but had to turnback as marshland. We then decided to walked to see the Strood crossing. We ended up walking 6.5m . When we got to the Strood the tide was in and we watched as it wenf down. We then walked back to accommodation.
