Rocked up at Culloden & parked for a fiver in a huge car park. If you are in Inverness it's just a 6 to 7 mile drive away. Our group just walked around the historic battlefield and took in the scenery. There are plenty of points of interest. Once the outdoors mission was completed we visited the gift shop and cafe. It was in the cafe I discovered Whisky Cask Cider which was the nicest drink of my whole Scottish trip. Culloden. Well worth seeing.

I subscribed to the national trust for £6.99. The parking fee and the entry were free with the membership. As I'm a fan of outlander and I was in the area, I decided to go and visit. It was a nice sunny day, brought by the heatwave. They do no joke when they say it's windy. But being really warm, 29 degrees, the breeze was welcomed. I joined the tour that lasted 45 minutes, with a lot of history facts and walked around the battlefield and graves. The hut was nice, but it was a shame it was shut. The guide was very informative and funny. The museum has some artefacts and we got to hold pistols and other guns. Has a wee cinema room whit images picturing the battle. I spent around 2 hrs, visiting the shop the shop as well. Well 2 hurs spent. There is a cafe and clean toilets. All looks well maintained. Well done to national trust!!

We participated in an interactive play of the captives sorted by class and others sent to America as indentured servants. Then we went on a tour of the battlefield. The tour guide gave a riveting “movie in our minds” play by play of the events leading up to the battle, the battle itself, and the aftermath. We really enjoyed the tour! The museum was laid out nicely with two paths taken by the government and the Jacobites. I could spend all day here. The gift shop was huge with a variety of items for everyone. This place is a short 10 minute drive to the Clava Cairns too.

This is a historical place that is a must-see.There is a parking lot, a wonderful cafe where you can order lunch, a wonderful museum and, of course, a battlefield that breathes history.

A really well kept museum, cafe, gift shop alongside the battlegrounds tour. Great detail of history and our tour guide Charlotte was an interesting and warm host of the story of the battle.
