Explore 40 hectares of woodland, meadows and waterways perfect for walking, wildlife spotting, fishing and family picnics.

Daisy Nook Country Park is a 40-hectare natural landscape straddling the Oldham and Tameside border in the heart of the Medlock Valley. The park features diverse habitats including woodlands, wildflower meadows, a lake, canal sections and waterways that create excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and bird-spotting. Visitors can expect to see great-spotted woodpeckers, owls, herons, foxes and squirrels throughout the park. The venue offers multiple recreational activities for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Two waymarked walking routes—the Green Walk (25 minutes) and Blue Walk (40 minutes)—guide visitors through historic features including a unique double lock system, a viaduct, and the ruins of Riversvale Hall. Bridleways link to neighbouring countryside areas for horse riding, while footpaths accommodate all abilities. Families can enjoy a children's play area with sand play and basket swings (including disabled-accessible equipment), pond dipping activities, and orienteering. The John Howarth Countryside Centre provides a café open seven days a week, toilets, picnic tables and information about the park's history. Day fishing tickets are available at three locations: Sammy's Basin, Crime Lake and Bardsley Canal. The park is dog-friendly and pushchair-accessible, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and mobility levels.

This is a fantastic country park. Lots of parking. The food is nice at the cafe and you find your own space. You will want to visit again. Nice for a quick walk up and down, all fairly easy if you stick to the canal path. The cafe does some great food and ice cream. Toilets available with free parking. Gets busy at the weekend!

What a lovely place to walk and finish with a sandwich and a brew. A friend and I went for a walk to the country park, I hadn't been before and was pleasantly surprised. Lots to see and do and places to stop and take in the beautiful area, my friend who knew Daisy Nook filled me in with the history of the area and this made it more interesting to me, I would suggest to call in the cafe and pick up one of the leaflets however there is information boards on the walks. We ended with a brew and a tasty sandwich in the interesting cafe which I thought how lovely looking at all the interesting pictures and Nik naks on display. I am looking forward to going back in better weather and seeing all in the sun.

It was our first time walking around Daisy Nook, despite having lived in Oldham all my life. We walked just over 2 miles in total. Starting off in Stannybrook Car Park, walked up the main trail, up to Crime Lake, and back round Sammy's Basin. Daisy Nook is beautiful I would highly recommend. Excellent for photographers and walkers alike. I believe they have Kingfishers there although we sadly didn't see any today. Parking is free, and there is a cafe onsite. Suitable footwear is advised, as even though it was a dry day, the rain from the night before had caused some big puddles along the side of the river.
