It's not only a heritage railway but a steamboat company too. Pick up the train in Paignton travel to Kings west, a foot ferry to Dartmouth then a one hour river cruise on the Dart and return, all for a single price (£33.50 today in June). If you're lucky then the old steam powered paddle steamer will be running. Failing that a modern boat with outdoor and indoor seating. It even has a bar. The train is a nice journey with some great engines, although the heavy use of Formica in the restored GWR carrages is disappointing. Nice gift shop in Paignton Station too.

Great day out starting and ended with the steam train journey. It's a great affordable way to see Dartmouth harbour and recommend the train and river cruise ticket.

You will have a great time here, the sights and sounds, the staff are fab too! Plenty of itineraries to choose from, I would say the ‘Round Robin’ is a must do whilst in Dartmouth, worth every penny 👍👍🍻

A lovely section of track that features a viaduct that old Steam & Diesel engines pull historic carriages along. Some trips even have a viewing car, which is unusual in my experience. It's not just worth taking the trip for the fun of it though as it stops at Paignton which, like most British towns, has a history all it's own. So two birds for one stone. The track is lovely, the staff are friendly & helpful. Why aren't you here already?
