Really good place to go for walks. Took the children there, the first carpark is small with a playpark, if you keep driving up the hill you come to another carpark with picnic tables. The OM Dark Sky centre is there too and has lots of events on. You can walk the boardwalk over to Beaughmore stone circles which is on a lovely quiet site.
Good spot for a cruisy family ride. Not much fun if you're after real MTB. Big car park and decent toilets. Almost all the native trees have been replaced with pines,
Glamping is available and really nice features such as the star gazing and peaceful river. Brilliant MTB routes. Reds big Wig Jig trail is tricky at the bottom near giant trail so watch out. Most of the red is fairly easy and not too dangerous had to get off only once. There are expert black runs as well which I tend to avoid but looked great for those with highly tuned skills.
All good overall, downside is the trail marks are missing, You can get very easily lost. The mtb trails need some cleaning of branches. The most important trail mark was pulled out from the ground and put back upside-down by someone.
A nice surprise. We walked the 5k forest Path which was pretty in a few spots. Most of the walk passed through tree cutting which was rather bleak at times. If you were to go here for the mountain biking or to view the sky at night I think it would be amazing and I do hope to return to do the UM solar walk.
