Good: lots of retro computers in working condition, all hands-on. Not so good: it's basically retro gaming, which makes it indistinguishable from loading an emulator and playing in the comfort of your own home. Could do better: make it more constructive, engage with visitors, have talks and tours.

As the Lead Teacher of Computer Science at a secondary school, I cannot recommend the Derby Computer Museum highly enough. We recently took two separate trips with our Year 7 groups (30 students per trip), and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The Highlights: Expert Support: A huge thank you to Rob and Dave, who were brilliant with the students. Their knowledge and support kept the groups engaged and inspired throughout the day. Organisational Ease: The venue was incredibly supportive of our specific needs during the planning phase, making the logistics of a school trip much smoother than usual. Student Impact: The engagement levels were off the charts. One student’s comment really summed it up: they admitted they were hesitant to come because it was a "museum," but quickly realised it wasn't like any museum they’d ever been to. It is rare to find a venue that balances educational value with genuine fun so effectively. We have already decided to make this an annual trip for our Year 7 cohort. If you are looking for a hands-on, inspiring, and well-managed educational visit, this is it!

Absolutely fantastic place, really well laid out and a huge range of computers and consoles from the 70s pong type things, to 80s ZX spectrums, Commadore 64's etc , and 90s and 2000s PCs, home computers and consoles. Loved every second of it, and I'll definitely be paying another visit soon!

Took my little girl and we had a brilliant time. Felt like a journey through time and the nostalgia came pouring back. My daughter actually preferred some of the 70s games like space invaders which was surprising! The staff were friendly and knowledgable and we'll definitely be visiting again!

I visited with my family and was able to introduce my kids to pretty much every computer or console that I grew up with. The whole family really enjoyed themselves, but I think I enjoyed myself the most! All of the exhibits were playable and many consoles had a stock of carts next to them so you could choose what to play. Such a fantastic range of machines too, and never too busy that you couldn't get on a machine. Since our visit I've been telling all of my friends of a similar vintage about it.
