Ride vintage miniature steam trains through woodland scenery, passing quirky landmarks like a tunnel, bridge, and field of gnomes for just £1.50 per ticket.

Dragon Miniature Railway is a beloved family attraction located in the car park of Dobbies Garden Centre in Romiley, Stockport. This volunteer-run railway offers visitors an enchanting journey aboard miniature steam trains, with tickets priced at just £1.50 (children under two travel free). The scenic route takes passengers through woodland, alongside the main road where children enjoy trying to get passing cars to beep at them, through a "scary tunnel," over a bridge, and past quirky landmarks including a one-eared donkey and a whimsical field of garden gnomes. The experience is enhanced by the warm welcome from dedicated volunteers who maintain the trains, drive them with infectious enthusiasm, and keep the entire operation running smoothly. Each journey is announced with the legendary words: "Hold tight, off we go." The railway operates as a community hub, with an onsite play area and a pocket money shop that children particularly enjoy. Suitable for families with young children and visitors of all ages, Dragon Miniature Railway has been a cherished destination for generations. The venue benefits from being located within a garden centre, providing additional facilities and amenities. The railway's success is built on the dedication of its volunteer team, who use all proceeds to support local community groups and charitable causes.

Amazing little railway! We loved it 😍 We came for a birthday party and ride on the train again and again. The staff were all so lovely and smiling all the time and my little one had the best couple of hours! Will definitely be coming back and bringing our friends!

I absolutely love it here. The volunteers are all so enthusiastic - it's lovely to see some young people being encouraged to join in. Father Christmas was amazing and spoke to the children. Good value for money (£14 for a child, 3 adults and a present) and will definitely be back next year.

We visited here today for a Birthday party. They offer a private area with Electric and lots of play space, it's fitted with a trampoline slides swings and lots of ride on toys. It also has Electric ride on toys that cost 20p per go. The train ride is fantastic suitable for little ones and adults it takes you around a beautiful track with lots to see. It's located at a Garden centre so you can venture over there too

Totally amazing little railway. Only costs £1.50 (Per person) It takes a out 7mins to go round the track. But is so worth it if you have kids. The staff and setting is really fun. Very safe and great fun for the whole family. They run lots of different trains and are more than happy to chat about it if you ask questions! Weekend only.

I took the young 'un and baby on a couple of trips of the railway, we loved it. You can't exactly make a day of it (although suppose you could try) as the round trip isn't long - although with that said it was a fair ride for £1! You don't need to pay for babies. If you do decide to make a bit more of your ride there is the option to stop about 3/4 way round where they have some outdoor toys and a trampoline etc. Staff are friendly and you can park right outside in the garden centre car park.
