East Cramlington Local Nature Reserve is a 35-hectare biological designation located in Northumberland, offering free open access to visitors year-round. The reserve features a medium-sized pond in its south-east sector that supports an impressive array of wildlife, including common frogs, toads, palmate newts, and great crested newts. Visitors can observe breeding swans, mallard ducks, coots, and moorhens on the water, while bats are frequently spotted flying overhead during evening hours. The site is particularly valuable for birdwatching enthusiasts, hosting declining lowland farm bird species such as skylarks, song thrushes, linnets, grey partridges, and yellowhammers. The grassland habitat supports a variety of plant species and is home to an exceptional range of butterflies including small copper, orange tip, green-veined white, wall, large skipper, and large white varieties. A population of bee orchids can be found just outside the reserve boundary. Families can access the reserve via permissive paths that criss-cross the site, with access points along the B1326 and from a track near North Moor Farm. The reserve is suitable for all ages and outdoor enthusiasts, from casual walkers to keen naturalists and wildlife photographers. Dogs are welcome on the site, and the open grassland and accessible paths make it pushchair-friendly for families with young children.

Absolutely beautiful place to walk. I love coming here with my dogs and my little one in all weathers. Absolutely beautiful views, lots to explore and people are pleasant. There’s even little things hidden around for you to find some days.

Well kept, lovely quiet walk. Perfect for wheelchairs/prams. The Main path does a Full loop round from one entrance of the carpark to the other about an hour at a leisurely pace. Plenty of other none accessible paths through the grass and wooded areas too for the adventurers/dog walkers. The Red squirrel feeding/viewing are is close to the right hand side entrance of the carpark. Perfect place to bring a picnic either se up on the grass or there are a few different seated areas dotted around to have one. The seating at the pond area would be lovely for it 🙂 highly recommend this place will definitely visit again

A lovely nature reserve, perfect for taking the dog for a walk, or a little afternoon stroll with the family. Dogs are allowed, and there's a car park for convenience. Great for an hour or two.

This is an absolutely wonderful place to visit and walk round. There are several excellent routes to take, all of which are easy to walk and all offer spectacular views. The wildlife here is amazing and on a good day you can see several species of birds, squirrels, swans and ducks. There is a reasonably sized car park too so no excuse not to visit.
