Great museum, very friendly staff. Lovely grounds with plenty of free activities and events for the kids during the summer. Highly recommend

Fantastic museum, lots of interesting exhibits. Plus there is a lot for children to do. The cafe was nice and very well priced. A true hidden gem ok Ilkeston.

The Erewash museum is just a five minutes steady walk away from the Ilkeston market & bath street area of the town & it's quite a haven from the hustle & bustle of the town centre . The museum although not on a massive scale has many features & exhibitions that often change throughout the year & feature various themes from the house & it's occupants over its history & local people & industry , plus Ilkeston's many war heroes & these are displayed here at the time of this posting July 2024 . There is also a good display of chemist & vintage food items & the like displayed in a vintage style shop setting , that may well jog some memories for the more senior visitors . The grounds & gardens are well kept & have some wooden sculptures that are quirky & humorous , plus a beautiful antique cast iron feature planter that Is extremely well detailed . The museum also has a café/tea room & prices are reasonable , for such beautiful antique surroundings ! . The museum also has a small selection of gifts for sale should you like to take home a souvenir . The museum is free to enter, but a small donation can be made should you like to donate ,as this will help with the upkeep & maintenance of this beautiful building . The museum is a good place to bring children also as they have the grounds to play in a traffic free area & there are also displays & activities that are based with children in mind . The museum is well worth visiting for those who enjoy history & architecture & may well surprise local visitors who probably don't even know it's here ! So why not visit the Erewash museum it's Ilkeston's history & heritage just waiting for you explore . A must place visit whilst here in Ilkeston ! .

This is a superb local museum. It is full of exhibits and information boards, illustrating the history and culture of the whole borough. It has a regular programme of events throughout the year. It also caters for young families, the elderly, and those with special needs. Also a nice little tea room, with reasonably priced snacks and simple meals. A nice walled garden, where youngsters can safely run around and let off steam.
