Discover birds of prey from around the world at this free sanctuary dedicated to rehabilitating and caring for injured owls, hawks, and falcons.

Festival Park Owl Sanctuary is a dedicated wildlife facility established in 1998, committed to the rehabilitation and care of injured, abandoned, and uncared-for wild owls, hawks, and falcons. The sanctuary's primary mission is to restore these magnificent birds to health and release them back into the wild. Visitors can enjoy free entry to observe various bird species from around the world, with seasonal opening hours running from 10am daily (extending to 2pm-4pm depending on season and school holidays). The sanctuary offers interactive experiences where visitors have the opportunity to hold owls and learn about these birds from trained volunteers. Educational school visits are available, allowing children to spend the entire day learning about the birds and gaining hands-on experience. The facility also participates in shows and fetes throughout the year, bringing their birds of prey to wider audiences. Managed by owner Malcolm Jones, who brings over 47 years of experience, and supported by a dedicated team of long-serving volunteers, the sanctuary is largely self-funded through public donations and educational programs. While some birds cannot be released due to being bred in captivity, non-native species, or permanent injuries, they provide permanent residents that contribute to visitor education. The sanctuary operates as a 24/7 rescue facility for injured birds of any type, with all birds examined by specialist avian veterinarians.

Such an amazing place and beautiful birds to see and learn about. Visiting is an absolute must - the team who are caring for the site and the birds are super knowledgable and only too happy to chat. They receive no financial support for their facility, so when visiting, please remember to leave a donation in one of the boxes on your way round - it means such a lot to everyone who looks after all of the beautiful birds. ❤️

Absolutely fantastic place considering it’s free entry. Some beautiful birds here, plenty to see. This would be a great place to take children too (but suitable for anyone). It’s a bit out of the way, but absolutely worth checking out if you like owls. No pressure on you to donate, but please do - it’s a great spot.

A really brilliant place with free entry. We visited on a Sunday and were able to stroke an owl and a tortoise, with plenty more birds to see and also a bearded dragon and goats. Only small but worth the visit and mostly accessible with prams, though steep in places. Paths have been kept clear of debris and in good condition. Some of the enclosures could do with a bit of love but it's definitely worth a £5-£10 donation. The shop was a bit empty but has a nice range of handmade and owl themed bits and bobs and a nice charity shop vibe. Also sells bottles/ cans of pop. There is an Aldi and a MacDonalds within easy driving distance. Car park area is small but plenty of parking on the hill. Maps will tell you to turn off into a sort of close of very large houses and go past the end one - you can just stay straight on the road through a gate to get to where you need to be. The road is narrow but there is a particularly large passing place about half way. Alternatively, you can park at the bottom of the hill and walk, which probably wouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

Had a lovely stroll around the park. Lovely range of birds. All come to say hello. Lovely space for them. A great range of birds from little owls to hawks. Ask was a cutie and the snowies. Really lovely bit if land and a lovely gift shop. Very knowledgeable staff. The little goats too are very cute. Great atmosphere up there. Easy to get to and free. You should be proud of a great place

What a fantastic place this is. We thought there would only be a handful of birds but there is currently well over 40-50 birds. Phoenix the Steppe Eagle was a personal favourite, a very active bird. We was able to stroke some of the new younger owls 🦉 and the lady we spoke to was very informative and I have found the staff to be wonderful, considering reading other people's reviews. It is free but it is worth any form of donation you can give. If it was a £5 or £10 entry fee I would not complain.
