Beautiful place and good trail for walking,cycling and running. Relaxing walk ,nice and cool

First time here at Forest Fawr , wow what a great place for walking there are 4 walking routes you can go on all very well signed posted brown,red,yellow,blue we walked the red it takes you through the forest down a quiet steep incline to castle Coch you walk down the driveway towards the exit for road and on the left you climb up back into forest . There is loads of wild garlic in the forest it smells lovely. There are a lot of carvings in the forest of animals they look fantastic.

An incredible nature walk. This is the perfect place to take a break from the stress of life and get some fresh air at the same time. This is a well laid out path through tall trees and along a dirt path so you can't really go wrong or get lost. I love that it's a dog friendly path, in fact most of the walkers will be dog walkers. It's worth going off the beaten bath a little and explore the trees, you'll see some interesting sights. Ahead a little there is a cool cave and some nice carvings. And of course wildlife such as squirrels If you walk this be sure to check out Castell Coch too for an unforgettable heritage sight.

Nice place to go for a walk .cycle .dog walk. Can park at either top car park work your way down or bottom car park work your way up .plenty parking .Good maps along route great old mines were awesome to see with a map and information to the workers years ago in them. Lots of little paths with carved wood pieces spread out. One picnic bench. One bench so not really anywhere to stop unless you at top or sit in woods No bins along the way or anywhere ??? Beautiful scenery can look down and across the beautiful hillsides and country for miles Took us around 2 hours but can do it in hour and we didn't do all the paths can stop and visit castell coch at bottom Our dog did have loads of spilkey round things stuck to her though which we did have to cut out loads of them ? So be aware Cafe at top .Cafe in castell at bottom Not aloud in the caves which would be amazing under guided tours but still get a good look. I would have gave 5 stars if they had bins and few more seats along the way as I do have some conditions copd asthma anemic where needed to just catch me breath .parking is free which is good I wouldn't take my dog again only because I had too cut the spikey things out of her obviously from grass or trees but I would return again without her. Well worth a visit and kids love the carvings yep I like this place 😀

Fantastic place for walking and for all abilities. I feel so lucky that within a 10 min drive you can be strolling around a forest with such beauty. The paths are wide with numerous trails. The top car park is big but as usual shut the gates to stop people going to stay overnight which I strongly disagree with. No car park bins that I can see, results in people leaving waste and dog poo bags. Hence a drop in star. The walks are great though especially on a hot day under the canopy. There are carvings along the trail and you can drop down into Castle Coch too. Very good for dogs and children they love it up there.
