A lovely woodland to cycle through and camp. We spent a Thursday night in hammocks surrounded by the barks of deer and the hoots of owls. Loads of foraging to be had I found some wild garlic and had it with my chicken for supper. The woodland works just fine without a ticket.
A substantial piece of woodland, in a very tranquil area. You can actually hear yourself think here. It has parking facilities and information signs if the trails available. At the time I visited, the wood was littered with the most beautiful bluebells. The highlight for myself however was breaking out of the wood onto the glad that is perched on the periphery with landscape views of the countryside and the lovely village of Foxley.
Nice and peaceful, benches to have a rest if you wish.Definitely will be going back.x
A beautiful, quiet, woodland with an amazing diversity of plants and insects. Towering oaks and hazel, shimmering meadow glades, dancing butterflies of so many different species, dragonflies and birds. No fuss. A simple 3 section carpark, small marker boards to follow the trail with a few species boards along the way, and the occasional bench. No facilities. No dogs. Perfect.
These woods are beautiful all year around; the birds the quietness, the peacefulness and tranquility. But now, late April all the bluebells are out and It is simply stunning. The early purple orchids are coming out and the new life of Spring makes the place alive with growth and excitement for nature.
