Really rude and unhelpful staff member- a female colleague either new or moved from the closed kidderminster store was not helpful towards me; wouldn’t explain any pokemon tcg to me or being honest about their handling of pokemon tcg i have been to the store before where other colleagues had been nice to me, explained to me the situation and at least i understood, but here she just kept telling me “no sorry” to every question asked, asking me how she could help but not helping when i was trying to seek help It is a shame to experience this as other LCS shops i go to are very friendly, honest and informative whereas this was just a rude closed experience for no reason i have also had pleasant service before with geek retreat from other colleagues so was so shocked and how she treated me, i was caught off guard and didn’t know how to respond hopefully the service from this colleague improves
I visited Geek Retreat to sell some of my old cards. The staff were extremely friendly and took the time make sure each card was checked and valued properly. They offered me what I thought to be a fair price which I was glad to accept. I'll definitely be using them in the future !!
I came in here looking to get a few cards to complete a master set, Ethan has been absolutely amazing, first thing first, he came and gave me a really nice card on him, knowing it’s one of my first times getting into pokemon properly. I suggest every single trading card lover to come here and have a chance to speak with him, he’s honestly one of the best people here!!❤️🚀 Best trading card shop I’ve been too, baring in mind I’ve just come from my 5th trading card shop!
I had previously left a very positive review for GR Brum, and many of those points still stand. The community here is great, with a great variety of leagues to attend every evening, a selection of events and drinks to have while you play. The owners changed last year, which initially felt like a bit of hope as they also run the Dudley GR, which seems to be doing great. However, since then, I have noticed a couple things that I would like to put out there, in the hopes of some positive change. They removed the deals you would get for food, so now you need to buy your chips and drink separately. This turned me off from ordering as frequently as I used to before, as the price felt too high. I would love to see something implemented again. The lack of knowledge on events and pre-orders has been the biggest issue for me. I live local, and want to support GR Brum, but when I ask about upcoming events and pre-orders of product I am interested in, I am mostly left with an unsure answer on what is actually happening. The staff who work here are always trying their best to help as much as possible, but it seems like they too are in the dark on what is happening. Several events I have been interested in end up not getting booked, so we have to go to other card shops in town if we want to participate. I used to always buy my product from here, even if it meant I would wait an extra week or two, because I would know that it was at least coming to the shop. But now, I don't know what will and what won't be coming in, and so I just end up going elsewhere to get it. It can be quite frustrating, especially on product that is either really important for the TCG comp scene, or higher end limited product that sells out quick. You can't really wait for info on these, and end up missing out elsewhere because of it. You also used to get 20% back on the app when you purchased anything in store. I imagine part of this decision is less of a GR Brum choice, and more of a GR as a whole. Would just be nice to have some kind of reward system implemented again, a lot of other places do. Again, this place is still great. The staff are super nice, and get to know you on a personal level. They help as much as they possibly can, never get tired of answering questions and always look out for you. There is a strong community here, which is such a positive to have. Everyone gets along with each other so well. Prices are pretty much always MSRP. They always put their community and locals first. I just feel as though now there is a bit of a disconnect on what used to make the place feel so nice to me. The lack of communication and knowledge of events and product, along with the low stock and no deals on food or purchases anymore upset me a little compared to when I first started coming here. I will continue to come here and support the shop every week while I have the means to. I just would love to see some changes implemented
Usually not very busy and should be able to find a seat downstairs. Most players come for card games or board games. The foods are fair. Of course it is not a restaurant, so do not expect a high quality. If for some quick treats, the foods should be more than enough.
