A little gem - a beautiful place with several circular routes to choose from. Very quiet too. There are cows and calves in the fields, dogs must be on a lead, but we chose to avoid them with our young collie anyway - the cows are not bothered, but the collie may have been! We will be back!

Great place for walking. Red kites always around and very peaceful. Most/all of the walks have some decent inclines to them but not at all unmanageable for weekend walkers etc. Can be muddy in places and cattle grazing. Love this reserve, great views and a wildness about it as well as history!

We were highly recommended this reserve for wildlife. There is multiple routes and educational posts on the walks as well as a hide. It was a very wet day so we did not see much but we would love to come back and try again

4/10/25 A great place to stretch your legs when travelling on the A470. There is ample parking and sufficient space for quite a few Motorhomes. There are a couple of pathways along the river and all travel upstream. It is possible to do a circular walk to cross over the river if you intend staying for a few hours and feel energetic. The river can be a spectacle especially in times of high precipitation and with plenty of viewing points along the way.

What an absolute gem of a place. Shhhh if this was in the Lake District it would be swarming! It’s stunning . I walked uphill from Rhayader and was greeted by a view that’s just wow wow wow. Then downhill to the reserve itself, just stunning countryside with the river and a waterfall to boot , views all around you . The prehistoric walk is enthralling, see the rocks with what would have been here millions of years ago . It’s a place I will go back to as soon as many trails to complete in superb peace and quiet.
