Become a Family MemberA beautiful historic cathedral! Too bad that the spire was being restored so we couldn't see the entirety of the exterior. The interior was quite large and plenty to look at!
Lovely and highly spiritual, impressive cathedral. I visited during the recent heatwave, cooled me right down! These stone, large airy buildings can be highly recommended! I particularly enjoyed looking at every nook and cranny and it was very peaceful to sit for a short minute and reflect- it is like a sanctuary, especially because it's in the middle of what is a congested city, perhaps more so than it used to be these days! Wasn't too busy when I went either, and an excellent place to visit. I'm not a tourist, I live 20 minutes away, but if you are this is an excellent bucket list place to visit and soak in the atmosphere of.
So impressed! We have visited quite a few cathedrals in England and Scotland, and Glasgow Cathedral is truly a special one. Its architecture is distinctive and magnificent, and we were absolutely amazed by it. The fact that admission is free makes it even more remarkable.
The stain-glass was lovely. I dreamt about flying through those black pillars. There were sub levels in there for the burial areas. The gift shop had a nice book of Scotland beasts. We parked nearby in a paid parking area.
Beautiful Cathedral although the front room feels empty and commercial. I will also note it was pouring rain the way we were going and everyone was crowded outside trying to get out of the rain, but they don’t open until 10 so wouldn’t let anyone in to said Commercial Area. We also made sure to have tickets but no one looked at them - maybe cause so many people rises to get inside once the door opened.
