Golden Gate Farne Islands Boat Trips

Seahouses, United Kingdom•4.6(186)•Nature Reserve, Wildlife Center

Embark on guided boat trips to the Farne Islands to spot puffins, seals, and seabirds while visiting historic Longstone Lighthouse and National Trust bird sanctuaries.

Golden Gate Farne Islands Boat Trips offers families an unforgettable maritime adventure exploring one of England's most important wildlife destinations. Visitors can choose from three distinct boat experiences: the Seabird & Seal Cruise (1.5 hours), the Inner Farne National Trust Bird Sanctuary tour (2.5 hours), or the exclusive Longstone Lighthouse Tour (2 hours), with prices starting from £23.32. All trips are suitable for all ages and include expert guided commentary on the region's rich wildlife and maritime history. The islands are home to approximately 40,000 breeding puffins, Atlantic Grey Seals, and diverse seabird species, making them a paradise for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The Longstone Lighthouse Tour is particularly unique, as Golden Gate is the only operator that lands on Longstone Island and offers guided access to Grace Darling's historic 23-metre lighthouse—a site of legendary rescue and historical significance. National Trust members receive free landing fees, and notably, dogs are welcome on all boat trips, making it truly dog-friendly. Families consistently praise the experience for its friendly, knowledgeable staff, excellent commentary from experienced guides, and the opportunity to observe wildlife up close from the boat's vantage points. The combination of outdoor adventure, educational wildlife experiences, and accessible booking makes this an ideal activity for families seeking memorable seaside experiences in Northumberland.

Excellent well organised trip. Very informative. We got off the boat on one of the islands and got up close to the puffins and other birds.

Just been on the best boat trip ever. Steve and George were great on the boat, very knowledgeable about the wild life and history of the islands. The opportunity to get off and see Grace Darlings Lighthouse, a small charge of £3 (cash only), is a must and a chance to walk on one of the islands is so special. The wildlife we got to see was second to none, from Puffins, Greay Seals and more. The woman on the front stall was very welcoming and helpful with going advice and information about the trip. We have now done a couple of boat trips to the Farne Islands and this one is by far the best in my view.

This was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The water was so choppy from Storm Floris the day before but we had so much fun touring and seeing the seals! If it isn’t too choppy can go on the island. Unfortunately, this wasn’t offered.

Four of us joined the Farne Island trip w/c 16/06/25 having booked in advance with Ailsa who was very helpful. No payment is taken till you turn up. The trip was amazing with the boat taking us so close to the islands to see such a huge variety of sea birds and seals. The young chap who provided the commentary throughout the trip was very clear and informative and the two hours for £20 was such great value. Highly recommend Golden Gate.
